OUR HISTORY

About Us

  • 2009

    Road Trip founded by John Fry, Matthew Slater, and Rocco Surname?. The business opened in Johannesburg and Durban, providing a service to drive customers home in their own vehicles

  • 2010

    Road Trip operation established in Cape Town

  • 2012

    James Motain leaves & Matt Slater returns to JHB to run Road Trip. Operations moves from Kyalami to Epsom Down Office Park. Split Rental with Exposure to Studio. John Fry assists Matt on a daily basis.  Launch of Home & Convenience Drive

  • 2014

    Road Cab, Point to Point transfer service introduced and service offering expanded

  • 2016

    Launch of Bail Protect Road Protect launches Bail Protect offering Clientelle and have since signed up One Loyalty and Workers Life. Road Trip are contracted to by Road Protect staff members to facilitate the bail process for all “minor” offences under R3K. We are contracted to pay the bail money at the relevant police station within 90mins in JHB/PTA/CPT & Durban and within 4 hours on a national basis.

  • 2018

    The Digicall Group acquires 52% share of Road Trip

  • 2019

    Road Trip introduces Luxury, Point to Point transfer service in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town

  • 2020

    John moves to full time. Matt advises on his intention to step down, COVID & effects thereof

  • 2021

    The Digicall Group acquires full ownership in July 2021. John Fry remains Chief Operating Officer. Tracy Peacock joins as Head of Sales.
